About Me

My photo
I am from Sheboygan, WI and recently moved to Darien with my boyfriend. I graduated college with a degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy and found myself not knowing what I want to do with my life. I have a lot of interests and need to work to narrow it down in order to find my true passion.

Full Moon

Ugh... what a night. It really is strange how you can tell when there's a full moon just by the customers that you get. It's true! Full moons do bring out the weird ones.

Tonight I really didn't have a lot of overly weird people at work, but my night was just a little bit tougher than normal. I just hate people some days. They're messy, disrespectful, lazy, and careless. It happened more than once tonight where I had the entire fitting room rack finally cleaned off and I was just waiting for the last fitting room to open up. Then when it finally did, I find a FULL fitting room with maybe one or two items hung and the rest on the floor. Seriously, how lazy can you be? I even heard a friend in one of the fitting rooms saying to the other girl "You're really just going to leave all this in here? You're so lazy." And I thought "Yes, finally someone who understands," and then they just left it all in there anyway. Really people? I feel like everyone needs to work in a direct customer service position to understand what it's like.

Later on, we were looking around for a hard tag in suspicion that someone had stolen some pants. I looked under a bench in a fitting room and found a pair of underwear. Unfortunately, it was not a pair of underwear that we sold in the store. Luckily, I did not touch them. I don't want to know what might be lurking in there. Sorry to whoever finds them next. I went on to recover my department and on a folding table I found a pair of pants and a bra that we do not sell in the store. Unfortunatley, I did not know that they were not from our store until I picked them up and looked at the brand. I was very unhappy to find I was touching someone's bra that they had been wearing for who knows how long. They went right into the dumpster, and I went right to the sink to wash my hands. Gross.

Another thing I found was damaged merchandise. First, I found a pair of gray leggings with a line of brown marker drawn down each leg. Are you trying to prove a point by doing that? Because I'm not understanding exactly what you're thinking... Then I found that someone must have really needed some plain old generic white buttons. They needed them so bad that they had to rip them off the front of a blouse. And it wasn't even all the buttons. Just 4 or 5. Plain white buttons. Are you really that cheap that you can't just go and buy some at Wal-mart? I'm sure you can get at least 50 plain white buttons just like that for about $1. But instead you had to go and damage a piece of perfectly good merchandise to get a few buttons. I just don't understand.

People are just frustrating.

Bombshell Fantasy Bra

So I was looking through the most recent Victoria's Secret catalog when I came upon the Bombshell Fantasy Bra. It has over 3,000 diamonds, light blue sapphires, and oval-shaped topazes, all hand-set in 18K white gold. All that for a price of $2,000,000!

First of all, who would pay $2,000,000 for a bra? Second, who would wear a bra full of diamonds? If I got it, I would be afraid to wear it. I wouldn't want to lose a diamond. And I would be afraid of cutting myself on one of those. Plus, when would you wear it? I would wear it maybe once, but never out of the house. After that what do you do with it? I would probably put it on display. I wouldn't want to keep something that expensive in my underwear drawer. Either that, or put it in a lock box somewhere. It's really pretty, but I think I'll wear my diamonds and sapphires on my jewelry where it can be seen instead of on my lingerie.

More Christmas Decorations

So I subscribed to a group of e-mails from Better Homes and Gardens (bhg.com) for easy holdiay decorating ideas. I received the first e-mail and there are so many cute and easy ways to decorate! I want to decorate my whole house! If only Markus would let me buy all the supplies for it... but until then, here are some of my favorites!

Updated Display
This is so cute. I LOVE the green, blue, and silver combo!

Awe-Inspiring Table
How pretty is that? If only I had a really nice table and dining room to put it with.

Button tree
This would be super easy to make!

Green ball Christmas tree
This is really cute and again would be really easy to make!

Christmas ball topiary
Again, I LOVE the green, blue, and silver combo. (Green and blue are definitely my favorite colors)

Coats

As the cold weather is moving in, I am noticing more and more cute coats. And I want them all! But what does one person do with like 50 coats? Plus who has the money to buy them all since most of them cost around $100 or more. So to honor the coats that I have been seeing and the winter to come, I decided to make a post of coats. And actually all of the coats on this post I saw in the Victoria's Secret catalog I received in the mail yesterday. There were so many cute ones that I decided to make a post of just Victoria's Secret coats. :o) Enjoy!

Who wouldn't want a bright pink coat? So cute!

I love this coat! It's a cute yellow coat in the front, and then you turn around and it says look! I'm not done yet!

Cute military style coat in a wonderful navy blue.

This is definitely my favorite coat. I love red coats to begin with, but this one is adorable!

Another skirted coat in one of my favorite colors.

And of course I had to put on a plaid coat. Love it!

Mixed Prints

I would just like to say that there are a lot of unfortunate looking people out there, and it wouldn't be so bad except most of them accentuate it by what they're wearing. Actually most of it is from how they are dressed.

Yesterday at work, I saw a woman who normally wouldn't be bad looking except that she was wearing black and white army print skinny jeans with a sparkly black and white leopard print top...

Ladies Urban Camo PantsAZI Jeans - Forwear New York Fashion Apparel Scoop Neck, Herringbone Leopard Print, Long Sleeve Woman's Tunic Top

Imagine something like those mixed together in one outfit...

What are people thinking? Mixing prints is a hard thing to accomplish, and that is definitely not working out. If you really want to mix prints, Stacy and Clinton from What Not To Wear will tell you to make one print big and the other one miniscule. For example:

Old Navy Womens Argyle Cardigans
Here is a really cute argyle cardigan from Old Navy.

Joe Benbasset Striped Textured Bootcut Pants
You could easily pair it with these pinstripe pants from Kohl's. The stripes are miniscule compared to the argyle, so it actually will look nice together.

Gloria Vanderbilt Perfect Fit Plaid Trouser Pants
You could even pair it with these plaid pants from Kohl's. The plaid is very subtle so it won't clash with the argyle print.
Even though we always say "Don't judge a book by its cover" the fact is that we do. People judge others by how they look. Next time you walk out of the house, think about how you're dressed.

Sweater Weather

So one reason I like fall is because I can pull out my sweaters again! I love sweaters. I just feel so cozy in them. Here are some really cute sweaters I found online.
Banana Republic Petite textured rosette cardigan
Love this cardigan from Banana Republic. If only they had it for like half price.

These next two sweaters are from Old Navy.
I love sweaters with zippers. Not really sure why.

Gotta have argyle. Love it!

I love this cardigan! (and the skirt!)

<>  <>
I think this sweater dress is super cute, and the best part? It's only $9.95!

I don't usually shop at Forever 21, and I'm not really a pink person, but I do think this cardigan is really cute! Maybe it's just because I like cardigans... and polka dots...

Hehe... sheep sweater...
Now I want to go shopping. :o) If only I had more money...

House wife?

So I totally felt like a house wife yesterday. I had the day off from work, so the first thing I did was went and got my hair cut. I came back home and had to make brownies for Markus to bring to work. After that was finished, I decided I wanted to make cookies for me to eat. While they were baking, I made marinade for the steaks we were having for supper. After the cookies were done, I decided to work on the pants I am trying to hem. I just received a sewing machine from my Grandma's friend and I'm still figuring out how to use it. I need to use a blind stitch, so it's a little more difficult. I think I almost figured it out. Once I finished one leg and then took it apart because it didn't really work out, I started preparing supper. I made steak (well I marinaded them and started the grill, Markus grilled them. I messed up the hamburgers I tried to grill the other day.), fried potatoes, and steamed carrots and zucchini. It all turned out pretty well. Then after supper, we cleaned. I do have to say though, I think I would enjoy doing those kind of things every day compared to going to work, or maybe I just haven't found a job that I really enjoy yet.

If you had to wear clothes from one designer the rest of your life, who would you choose?

So I've been thinking lately about what my personal style would be if I had an unlimited amount of money and could wear whatever I wanted. After much thinking, I decided that I would have a very classic style. I like form fitting, figure flattering clothes. I like patterns that are very simple, especially polka dots. I love the styles of the 1950s when you could actually see where a woman's waist was. It is a style that will never go out of style. Here's some examples of why I love the '50s:

Look at that tiny waist!

So some of these may look a little old, but just look at how flattering those dresses are! They definitley show the hour glass figure.

So I started searching and trying to find updated dresses from today with the same kind of styling. It is pretty difficult with the popular styles today being so loose cut. However, I ran into one designer that I absolutely fell in love with. The styles aren't exactly the same as they were in the '50s, actually they're kind of early '60s, but I love her clothes. And that designer is Kate Spade.

I love this coat!

Cute and classic, these will never go out of style.

Love the color!

Polka Dots!
So yes, if I had to wear one designer the rest of my life (of course if money wasn't an issue), I would wear Kate Spade. How about you? Who would you wear?
